The AmeriMasala an Enriching Multicultural Celebration – Erie Reader
The Erie Reader says, “The AmeriMasala is not just an artful event, but a tenacious movement rooted in tethering all nationalities and origins to bring people together in order to develop pride in our own humanity.” The Erie Times News called AmeriMasala’s opening parade (UnoWE) “the most unique parade in Erie’s history.”
We invite you to assist in the growth of this event by providing your volunteers and funds. Please consider joining us this year as a sponsor.
All sponsors will have their business names listed in all print and electronic media. $500-$1000 sponsors will have their logos displayed on the AmeriMasala website and highlighted on social media. Sponsorship enhances our ability to create a welcoming environment and offer dynamic performances and family activities.
The preparation for AmeriMasala’s opening parade is a case study of using the arts to build community commonality. Facilitated workshops on constructing giant body puppets and movable arts demonstrate AmeriMasala’s inclusivity, led by national artists like Sara Peattie (Boston Puppeteer’s Cooperative) and Robin VanLear (Cleveland’s Parade the Circle founder), along with local artists. All individuals can participate, as art pieces can be designed to accommodate physical limitations, including wheelchair-bound individuals, senior citizens, and pre-school children. We ask for your help to continue establishing an annual tradition that is not only the most inclusive and far-reaching in the region’s history, but a tradition hard-pressed to find across the country.
Post-parade festivities in Perry Square will feature local performing artists, including those from our New American community. Visiting artists include world-class performers such as BATALA New York, the Djapo West African Dance and Drum Ensemble, and the 8/12 Path Band (New Orleans jazz marching band). Cultural culinary presentations promote the value of all people and emphasize cherishing our shared humanity.
In times of national division, efforts to break down walls of separation and remind each other of our common humanity are essential. AmeriMasala uses the arts to build an annual tradition of a common, positive experience for every sector of our community, providing space and opportunity to appreciate the value of all people and inspire our better selves.
We would be honored for you to be a sponsor to help this important event happen.
